President's Message

Hello Fellow SEW IFMA Members,

First of all, I hope everyone is well and staying safe.  We’ve all gone through tremendous change in the last few weeks.   Members are working remotely, many are monitoring buildings onsite, and some are spearheading projects as part of our essential workforce.  All of us are struggling with ever changing guidelines and supply chain disruptions.  We have a strong core of members who are successfully navigating these waters.  In order to connect during this pandemic, we will be hosting a Zoom “FM Roundtable” session this Fri April 3rd at 3PM.  Please follow the link attached to sign up.  https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_6wrNvE1BSLC_TGR0DINVIg Hope to virtually see you there!

In addition, with the growing amount of literature and reference documents related to the pandemic, we’ve now updated our chapter blog which you can access to keep up to date with the latest information.   https://sewifma.org/blog/cid/1.   We will continue to keep posting relevant information as we all try to help one another through this difficult time.

As a chapter we continue to pivot as the situation evolves.  We hope to someday soon see everyone again at our networking events, lunch and learns, service opportunities, and more.  Until then we’ll provide a virtual space to gather and share.

Take Care,

Your President,

Brett Heikkila

IFMA Foundation - Ken Laga Winner

At World Workplace 2019  our Chapter President, Brett Heikkila, awarded the Ken Laga IFMA Foundation Scholarship Award to McKay Jaussi of Riverton Utah.  The Ken Laga Scholarship program was started by our Chapter back in June of 2007 and has awarded five $3,500 Scholarships to college students that are studying to become Facility Managers.  The Ken Laga IFMA Foundation Scholarship has been funded by proceeds from our annual SEW IFMA golf outing.  The Foundation accepts deserving applicants from throughout the United States and Western Europe.  Our Chapter also has a local (Wisconsin) college scholarship program which is also funded by our golf outing profits.

A little about McKay Jaussi…….  McKay is a Junior at Brigham Young University and is working on a degree in Facility and Property Management.   Ideally he would like to work in Facilities at a college University.  McKay is an Eagle Scout and has worked on three different facility related projects during his college career.  He worked as an FM Intern on a HVAC controls project at Northwest Nazarene University.  McKay also worked for 3 months on a construction project for the new Engineering building on the BYU campus.  McKay is currently an Intern at the Church of Latter-Day Saints headquarters in Salt Lake city.  He is working on a project to Asset tag and inventory approximately 30,000 assets across the Campus.  Congratulations McKay!

Did you know most of our Annual IFMA  Golf tournament profits go to two Scholarship funds? (Local and National)  It is just one more reason that your IFMA membership is important.

Annual Sponsorship Opportunities

The Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), founded in 1987, is dedicated to supporting and helping meet the changing informational and educational needs of in-house corporate, government and health care facility management executives and their staff. These individuals are responsible for the planning, construction, and ongoing management of millions of square feet of facilities throughout southeastern Wisconsin and beyond.

We would like to continue to offer valuable educational opportunities for our members while supporting our local communities and could use your help in becoming a sponsor of SEW IFMA or continuing your sponsorship of SEW IFMA.

The benefits of becoming sponsor of SEW IFMA are the following:

  • Direct advertising and recognition to over 200 local facilities professionals.
  • Receive unique and valuable marketing opportunities for your company.
  • Networking with our local Chapter including two additional state Chapters.
  • Stay ahead of the competition by being in our exclusive company online directory.
  • Access for you and your team to take part in our premier educational activities.

More specifically and most importantly, your contributions will help us develop and provide top rated educational programs, premier facility access events, and exceptional networking opportunities.  Here is a sample of some of the educational programs and tours we have planned for the first half of the year.
