President's Message

Hello Fellow Southeastern Wisconsin IFMA Members,

I’m very honored and humbled that you chose me to serve as President this year.  I believe this is the first time I’ve been president of anything-what were you all thinking?!  All kidding aside, I thank you for this opportunity and will do my very best to continue to build and grow our chapter.

As summer is coming to an end, just as the kids are getting ready for the upcoming school year, it’s time to get moving on this year’s SEW IFMA schedule of events!  My goal this year will be to increase membership through strong programming.  So the first order of business for all Board, Steering, and Committee members will be to put together a comprehensive schedule of events for the year.

Our Strategic Planning Session will be taking place on August 20th at First Financial Bank in Brookfield.  For anyone who wants to get more involved in the chapter, and would like a say in the direction of our events, this Strategic Planning Session is for you!   Please contact myself, Amy Langkamp our VP, or Tina at WAM if you would like to attend.

Also coming up we have 3 great events that I hope to see some new faces.  So please sign up and make sure to tell your friends about any of the following:

  • BMO Harris Tower-August 8th. This is your one chance to see this high-profile building project in the midst of construction.  This is will be a great learning opportunity, so take advantage.
  • Hunger Task Force Farm September 11thTake this chance to roll up your sleeves and do your best Hee-Haw impression (yes I’m dating myself) and harvest for a worthy cause.
  • Kathy’s House Meal Prep October 14th.   Help prepare meals for families in our area dealing with serious medical conditions.

More great things to come including Tri-Chapter MKE next spring!  The Tri-Chapter Committee is already hard at work and an announcement is just on the horizon!

As your new President and someone who has been very involved over the past few years I can promise that if you make an effort to show up you won’t regret it. There are always valuable takeaways from our events and our members are so friendly there is a good chance you walk away with a new friend or two. Who knows if you play your cards right you could be our next President.  That’s the beauty of our chapter!

Thank you to all of our current members and generous sponsors.  Your active participation is what makes IFMA so great.

See you at our next event!

Preparing Meals for Guests at Kathy’s House

Thank you for considering making a meal at Kathy’s House!  Our guest often share with us how much they appreciate having a home cooked meal. By cooking a meal you are providing a break for our families from eating out, going to a vending machine or just skipping a meal.    You will truly leave knowing that you have made a difference.

General Guidelines
Please remember that everyone visiting the House must be healthy in order to protect guests who may be immune suppressed.
We also try to keep a fragrance free atmosphere as many of our guests are extremely sensitive to fragrances.

? Dinner is served at 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.  Brunch is served between 10:00 am and Noon on
   Saturday and Sunday.
? We encourage you to eat with the guests.
? Because we do not have a full-time cleaning staff, please allow time for your group to clean up after
? We ask volunteers to prepare for approximately 30 people when planning a meal.  Our guests love    leftovers!
We encourage healthy meals with fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible.
? You may cook on-site and use our equipment or cook off-site and bring in your meal.  We also have    grills available.

What to Bring
? Please bring all the ingredients to prepare your meal.
? We have a fully equipped kitchen including pots, pans, utensils, plates, cups, serving dishes, ice, coffee,
   three microwaves and three stoves/ovens.
? Often our cookware has had lots of use so if you have a favorite pot to cook in to make your favorite
dish, feel free to bring it and please take it back as soon as you are done.  We have food storage

SEW IFMA has decided to provide Chili and sides for approximately 30 people, and are encouraged to eat with the families. Volunteers are required to provide a dish premade, or may prepare a dish at Kathy’s House kitchen.  Dishes must be ready for serving at 5:00 p.m.

Get involved -- join a committee!

Program Committee members help plan educational programs, building/construction site tours, and a number of social events throughout the year.  Members meet bi-monthly, currently at Moe’s Irish Tavern on Highway 100 and Bluemound.  We brainstorm and coordinate new events/tours.  Typically each member is assigned to coordinate an event.  Currently along with our monthly programs, planning is in the works for our annual Member Appreciation Event in October at Veloce Go Cart Racetrack and Point Burger Bar.  The Programs Committee is a great way to get involved and meet our members along with the opportunity to have a say in our Chapters future events.

Please contact Lou Kowieski, Program Chair if interested in joining the Programs Committee: [email protected]

The SEW IFMA Education Committee is charged with providing educational opportunities to all the members of SEW IFMA through educational programs, student scholarships and member professional development. It will work to ensure that the member educational and certification needs are met.

Please contact Tyler Yaudas, Education Chair, if interested in joining the Education Committee:  [email protected]

The Service Committee is set up in order to provide financial, physical or volunteer services to organizations within Southeast Wisconsin that are in need of support. The committee researches charitable organization opportunities and aligns active SEW IFMA members with their needs. Members support financial fundraising events twice per year while continuing to provide physical donations or volunteer services throughout the year.

Please reach out to [email protected] to reach out to a committee member.

The Communications Committee has the responsibility of issuing communications to multiple audiences within SEW IFMA including Chapter Leadership, member at large and the general population. This committee will include a Chairperson who is responsible for internal communications with support from the Vice Chairperson. The committee will continually strive to review communication channels to issue information that is innovative, relevant and consistent.

Please reach out to [email protected] to reach out to a committee member.
